Vessels of Light
This exhibition highlights a new direction in Klagsbrun's ongoing exploration of the tension between form and flux. A series of ephemerally light sculptural vessels, composed of thin paper fragments, shows her continued fascination with translucency and layering, now taken to a third dimension. In many of these pieces she incorporates various organic elements, from tree bark to barnacles, to address her favorite theme: the fluctuating boundaries between organic and inorganic.
This series of works by Andrea Kraus expresses her ongoing fascination with exotic markets in places she has travelled to over the years - from Morocco and Tanzania, to Bhutan, Viet Nam, and Thailand. Inspired by the rich colors, shapes, textures and patterns of objects jumbled together on market stalls, she creates paintings, mixed media works on paper, as well as photographs, which evoke a marvelous mixture of the ordinary and the extraordinary.
