ARTIST STATEMENT

In the New York Times recently A. E. Hochner quoted Hemingway as saying "the test of a good story is in how much good stuff you can leave out".  I tend to feel that way about my images, which are essentially autobiographical or perhaps shorthand records of my life's experiences.  My Zen Sumi-e teacher in Tokyo, Oi sensie, said: "Make Universe".  I believe my work is a distillation of my universe.
